I agree that there is a market for high-end equipment and some people are willing to pay a premium for a perceived increase in sound quality and/or features. However, it seems that we all are paying more now that blue-ray has less direct competition in the market. The overpriced blue-ray players is more obvious at the higher end market but there is also overprice at the lower end market to a lesser amount. Prices of blue-ray player at the lower end have not come down much in the past six month. In addition, some lower end players now have less features like not including 5.1 analog audio output or not providing 5 free blue-ray movies as they used to do when HD DVD and Blue-ray were competing for market share.
