Good review...didn't really liked this movie, it's not what I was hoping for either.

I didn't like this movie much, either. I'll tell you why.
Michael Mann didn't do anything new. I happened to get season one of the original series for a gift, and I was going through it around the same time. The movie is pretty much the exact same plot as one of the episodes, with just snippets of another episode or two.
I would have preferred a completely different storyline, or at the very least a remake of the storyline in the pilot when Crockett and Tubbs first become partners. To me, that would have been more satisfying than just a random episode of the season.

Great observation hoodaguy.
I was a fan of the TV series, and would love to get one day a remastered widescreen Blu-ray set of the entire 5-year run! That show featured awesome music, colors, clothes, unique guest stars, and sexy love interest Sheena Easton (the Scottish singer from James Bond's For Your Eyes Only) for Crockett during one season. I also remember my surprise when Teller (the silent member of the Penn & Teller comedy team) played a bad guy with a speaking role! That's the only time I've ever heard this guy actually talk (before or since).
Universal needs to get the original "80s cool" TV series remastered on Blu-ray. I passed on the standard DVDs due to critical comments made against their quality, but I do own LaserDiscs of the two original, longer full-length TV movie pilots. The first 1st and 3rd season of Miami Vice were the best (in my opinion).

Yeah. Now the closest thing we have to "Miami Vice" is either David Caruso (looking down at the ground with his hands on his hips), or Dexter, the serial killer that only kills bad guys.
